Grace Preparatory Academy is pleased to announce the hiring of Tammy Evans as its new head girls basketball coach. “Coach Tammy Evans has the background, ability and experience necessary to take our girls basketball program to greater heights,” according to Richie Alfred, Grace Prep Dean of Athletics. “She has a track record of success. Even more importantly, she will serve as a positive Christian role model for our young ladies.” Evans comes to Grace Prep after spending the past two seasons as an assistant coach at Kennedale High School, where the Wildcats advanced to the area playoffs this season. Prior to that she was an assistant at Godley High School. Throughout her career, Coach Evans has 10 years of head basketball coaching experience at various public and private high schools in both Texas and Florida. She led Granbury Happy Hill Farm on their way to back-to-back TAPPS 1A State Championships in 2011 and 2012; she was also named TAPPS Coach of the Year in each of those seasons. Additionally, Evans has coached cross country and track. In 2006, she helped lead the Happy Hill Farm boys track team to a TAPPS 1A championship, and did the same for the 2011 Happy Hill girls cross country team. “I am very excited to return back to Christian education,” says Coach Evans. “Grace Prep has given me this opportunity to coach young ladies in an environment where the truth can be interjected in dealing with life challenges both on and off the court.” Evans is married to Dr. Marc Evans, and they are the parents of four grown children and have two granddaughters.
