Senior volleyball player Sage Post signed her Letter of Intent on Wednesday to continue her athletics career at the collegiate level. Post will attend Lubbock Christian University where she will pursue a biology degree with plans to attend medical school. LCU is an NCAA Division II member of the Lone Star Conference. A four-year GPA volleyball letterwinner, Post earned numerous honors this season including: TAPPS 4A All-State First Team, 4A All-Tournament Team, Academic All-State, District 3 MVP, and District 3 First Team. Congratulations to Sage and her family!
Grace Prep is proud to announce that seniors Samuel Prather and Harrison Young have been named National Merit Semifinalists. In order to qualify for this honor, a student’s PSAT score from their junior year must be in the top 1% of all scores in the nation. To qualify for National Merit scholarships, Sam and Harrison will need to advance to Finalist status by completing steps lined out by the National Merit program. They will be notified of their Finalist status next spring. We are also proud to announce that Drew Moore and Bradley Scott have qualified as National Merit Commended Scholars. These young men qualified for this honor earning a PSAT score that ranked them in the top 2.2%. Congratulations to these young men and their families!

Grace Prep Theatre’s production of “Our Place” captured third place at the district competition held Tuesday in Denton. The one-act play focused on why places are important to people, and how they connect people and emotions. Over 20 GPA students made up the cast and crew. Congratulations to Drew Moore who was named NBC5 Wingstop Scholar Athlete for the month of October! Drew, a senior, just completed the cross country season where he finished 39th at the TAPPS 4A State Meet in Waco. In the spring, he’ll again play tennis, hoping to build on last year’s third place finish in state in 4A Doubles with his brother, Luke. Additionally, Drew is heavily involved in activities at school including starting both Mu Alpha Theta (math honor society) and HOSA – Future Health Professionals organization, as well as participating in National Honor Society, Business and Investing club, and serving as Vice-President of the Student Senate. The 2019 Grace Prep Spelling Bee was held on Tuesday evening, and featured a host of elementary and junior high students competing for top honors. Seventh grader Seth Prather claimed the championship. Ethan Roberts, a 5th grader, was runner-up. Congratulations to the top spellers, and job well done to all who competed!

Grace Prep’s Fall one-act play production of Lafayette No. 1 captured the state runner-up title at the TAPPS Division 2 State competition held November 7-8 at Callioux Theater in Kerrville. Additionally, several Lions earned individual honors for their work at the contest, both on stage and behind the scenes. Ryleigh deMontalvo was one of five named to All-Star Tech for her work as Stage Manager. Isaiah Cavanaugh and Carson Pinon were chosen for the Honorable Mention Cast, while Dawson Foster was named to the All-Star Cast. Emily Watson brought home a top individual honor as the Best Actress for the entire contest! Congratulations to the cast and crew of Lafayette No. 1!
The Tillie Burgin Servant Leadership Award recipient for November is Jessica Friberg. Jessica is a long-time Grace Prep student, where she has been a vital member of the Theater Department. Jessica has served on numerous mission trips to Kenya, the DR Congo, four times to Costa Rica, and seven times to Rwanda. Jessica lives out Titus 3:2, which says “be peaceable and considerate, and always be gentle towards everyone.” Jessica’s parents are Joe and Tammie Friberg. The Grace Prep department of Student and Family Ministries regularly presents the Tillie Burgin Servant Leadership Award to a worthy Grace Prep senior. Derrick Kinney and Associates has generously provided a monetary award as well.
