This weekend Grace Prep is partnering with ABI and Cook Children’s to stand with those battling childhood cancer. On Saturday, September 1 at 6:00 p.m., Amputee Basketball Invigorate, a team of college and professional basketball players who have had an amputation due to cancer, will play a team made up of families and students from the Lion Nation. The game will bring awareness to those families fighting through childhood cancer and Saturday’s game will pay tribute to a DFW family who recently had a son lose his battle with cancer. Saturday, we will also remember and pray for Emma and Daryl, two of Lion Nation’s very own who are battling cancer. Because of Emma’s and Daryl’s fights, Grace Prep has partnered with Be the Match, setting up an electronic bone marrow drive to help those suffering with Lymphoma and Leukemia. Anyone between the ages of 18 and 44 can register online and receive an in-home cheek swab kit. Mail the sample back within a few days and join the registry. To register and receive your kit click the link: https://join.bethematch.org When: Saturday September 1, 2018 @ 6PM Where: Grace Preparatory Academy Who: ABI, Cook Children’s and YOU Why: Because in our family, no one stands alone.

The 2018-19 new school year festivities started off on August 9 with Back to Grace night. The GPA family celebrated being back together, saw the cheer squad perform, and took time to pray for a couple members of the family who are battling cancer. The rainy weather forced kids, big and little, to play Knockerball inside, but it didn’t deter the fun! On Wednesday, every secondary student arrived at school to find a handwritten note of encouragement on his or her locker! Friday morning was an all-school assembly which concluded with several epic tug-of-war battles – first between the freshmen and seniors, and then the sophomores and juniors. The seniors claimed the overall student championship with a win over the juniors. Their victory put them in the battle for ultimate bragging rights against the GPA teachers and staff. Even outnumbered by the faculty, the seniors took home the 2018 GPA Tug of War title. All in all, a great way to begin the school year!
The Grace Prep Volleyball team set the fall 2018 sports season in motion Tuesday night as they hosted Prince of Peace Christian School in a varsity/JV doubleheader before a home crowd. The Eagles were no match for the varsity Lions as GPA took the match in three games, winning 25-21, 25-15, 25-23. The JV took the first game, 26-24, before coming up short in the second and tiebreaker games. The varsity squad next heads to Fort Worth on Friday and Saturday for the TAPPS Spike Down Classic to be held at the Game-On Sports Complex.
