Academic and College Advising

At GPA, the Center for Student Success will help you navigate the often difficult waters of planning out your high school career so that you have the freedom and confidence to move on to your next academic goal: attending the college of your choice. Regina Ahart, our registrar, and Denise Webb, our vice principal, are working together to help students prepare for graduation by selecting classes based on their college choices, individual talents, interests, and needs. Each student at GPA should schedule a time to meet with Regina or Denise to discuss graduation plans before their junior year.

Additionally, Denise and Regina arrange for college representatives to visit GPA and help interested students learn more about various college options. They also assist students in finding the right tools necessary for successful college entrance exam preparation. At GPA, our students consistently exceed national and state standards on the ACT, SAT and PSAT. Since 2001, we have produced 20 National Merit Finalists, 36 additional National Commended Scholars and 3 National Hispanic Scholars.

Students and parents are always welcome to make an appointment or just drop by! For more information, please contact Denise Webb or Regina Ahart.

College is the next step ... what do I need to know?

Please read through the handbook below to get a better feel for several aspects of the college admission process. Juniors will receive a hard copy in the spring, but all high school students and parents are welcome to this information. It is never too early to start thinking about and planning for college!
