Which courses should I register my student for in the 9th grade?

When does my student need to decide to pursue the Distinguished Diploma?
Students need to know if they are going to pursue the Distinguished Diploma by the spring of their freshman year. Because this diploma requires three years of a foreign language, they must begin this track starting their sophomore year.
Are honor courses weighted?
Honors courses are weighted for ranking purposes only; the weighted grade does not appear on the student's transcript.
My student wants to participate in extracurricular activities. How many courses must he/she be enrolled in to be eligible to participate?
All high school students must be enrolled in four courses at GPA to meet minimum eligibility requirements; three of those courses must be core courses.
When should my student take the SAT or ACT?
It is strongly recommended that students take these exams at least once during their junior year.
Are the PSAT and SAT or ACT required for graduation?
Yes, students are required to take the PSAT their freshman, sophomore and junior year. The SAT or ACT must be taken during the junior or senior year in order to graduate from GPA.
