Student Organizations

Academic Team

While competing as individuals, this group of students will represent GPA at all interschool competitions. The competitions will include, but not be limited to, all TAPPS competitions. Participants will be expected, with the help of sponsors, to prepare for specific areas of competition. For more information, contact Vivian Jack at or Amy Hyde.

Class Government

9th grade
Freshman Leadership Council (FLC) is open to any 9th grade student who wishes to gain leadership skills and service management skills. The purpose is to teach Biblical concepts of servant leadership with activities used to develop character traits associated with these skills. This group is led by a faculty advisor and parent volunteers. For more information, contact Genny Holmes.
10th thru 12th grades

Class activities will be led and promoted by elected officers for each class. There will be various activities and opportunities in which each class member can participate. Each class will be sponsored by faculty/staff advisors.

For 10th grade, contact Kristan Ellison.

For 11th grade, contact Charlotte Horner and Tamra Brudi.

Debate Forum

The Debate Forum comprises high school students who are passionate about disputable topics and who enjoy sharing their opinions on these subjects. The Forum currently follows an informal format, and each debate is all-inclusive; every member is allowed and encouraged to participate. Because the Debate Forum is in its infant stages and is still a developing organization, its purpose will be more clearly defined during this school year. The Forum will be sponsored by a GPA faculty member. For more information, contact Nancie Hall.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)

The national FCA organization states as its mission: “To present to athletes and coaches, and all whom they influence, the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationship, and in the fellowship of the church.”

It is the goal of the FCA Huddle at Grace Prep to accomplish this mission. The FCA at Grace Prep is led by a group of Jr. and Sr. officers that are selected from submitted applications at the end of the spring semester. The officers meet weekly at lunch during the school year to plan FCA sponsored activities. The officers lead monthly meetings, open to all high school students, which may include games, guest speakers, worship, Bible studies, and small groups. For more information, contact Richard Reed or Akeem Leviston.

Journalism Club

The Journalism Club will be comprised of junior high students. The students will produce either one newspaper and one live newscast during the fall and spring semesters, or one newspaper and one taped and edited newscast. Students will work with the journalism adviser to provide stories, interviews, poems, drawings, photos, or game score information. Students interested in filming or film editing are also welcome. Students will meet as necessary during the lunch period during school.  It will be a valuable learning experience for the students. For more information, contact Stephanie Hall.

Junior High SWAG

This is a monthly event for junior high students to spend time together at a high energy meeting filled with music, games, food, small group Bible study, and prayer. For more information, contact Nancy Offutt.

National Honor Society (NHS)

This is a national organization that promotes appropriate recognition for students who reflect outstanding accomplishment in the areas of scholarship, character, leadership, and service. Membership at GPA requires students at the Jr. and Sr. level to display these qualities, to be endorsed by a faculty council, have a weighted high school grade point average of 94 or higher, and accumulated a minimum of 40 hours of community service during the freshman and sophomore years. All eligible students will be sent an invitation to apply for membership to NHS. For more information, contact Denise Webb. For a copy of our NHS Constitution, click here. Pottery Club

The Pottery Club at Grace Prep is open to current high school students or former students of the Pottery/Ceramics class who share an interest in this art form. Students will use their talents to create projects in order to raise money for various charities, discuss ideas for future projects, and plan events including, but not limited to, field trips. Students will also be encouraged to prepare pieces for the TAPPS competition during the spring semester. For more information, contact Suzy Lindem.

Revolution Band

The purpose of the Revolution Band is to lead the student body in spirit-filled times of worship during Revolution. Students who lead Revolution in worship will be chosen through an interview selection process at the beginning of each new school year. Students will be selected based upon spiritual maturity, musical ability, and position needs. Students in the band will meet weekly to determine the song selections and the flow of the worship set. For more information, please contact Wendy Smith.

Robotics

The Robotics Club is for students who are interested in using a variety of scientific skills and creativity to design a robot. The members of the Robotic Club will design and build a robot to perform a specific task in a local contest. There are opportunities for winners of the local competition to continue and advance in competitive levels all the way to the national level. For more information, contact Tammie Friberg.

Spanish Club

Spanish Club is for students who would like to fellowship with others sharing a common interest in the Spanish language not only for the betterment of themselves, but for the betterment of each other, their community, and ultimately, the world for Christ. It is a foundation for improved Latin American cultural understanding, language skills, and spiritual growth, all of which are important aspects to effectively communicating God’s love and truth to Spanish-speaking peoples in the United States and abroad. Students will have opportunities to implement this mission through a variety of activities that are educational, social, and service related. For more information, contact Olga Davenport or Suzy Lindem.

Student Council

The Student Council will serve as a liaison between the students and the administration in areas which concern the opinions and experiences of GPA students. The Student Council will consider, formulate, and make recommendations on issues that affect students and promote democratic ideals. They will promote a spirit of cooperation among the students and faculty. Furthermore, they will guide, organize, and coordinate wholesome school-wide activities in order to promote school spirit. Every high school class will have representatives that will be elected and/or appointed. Officers will be elected from this group of class representatives. The Student Council will be sponsored by faculty advisors. For more information, contact Dale Meinecke.

Theater and Speech Club

The Grace Prep Theater and Speech Club is a great opportunity for students who share an interest in theater and public speaking and wish to compete in tournaments and/or attend performances at local theaters. The club is open to Grace Prep students in grades 7-12.  All members are encouraged to participate in TAPPS competition (high school) as spaces are available and other tournaments through the year.  Night of the Arts performances highlight the work of high school students enrolled in Theater/Oratory Arts class; however, if space permits, consideration will be given to other club students on an audition basis. For more information, contact Amy Hyde.
