Six Flags Six-Hour Reading Club

Welcome to the 2011 Six Flags Six-Hour Reading Club! GPA is participating in an exciting program that encourages children in grades K-6 to read for fun, enhance the language arts program, and promote family readings times.

Each student who completes six hours of recreational reading by the February 18 deadline will earn a free admission ticket valid at Six Flags (Arlington, TX). We are counting on our families to encourage their children to read to succeed!

Here’s what you need to know:

  • This program begins at the beginning of each spring semester.

  • Only students in grades K-6 are eligible to participate. If a student has siblings who are homeschooled and elementary aged, we include them in this program through GPA.

  • The six hours of recreational reading may include the following: magazines, newpapers, books (including Blue and Gold Reading Program selections), comic books, family Bible studies, and devotionals.

  • Kids may read silently, aloud, or to other family members; parents may not read to their children.

  • No books for class study or class assignments may be included.

  • Please use the “Student Reading Log” form to verify each child’s six hours of reading. Return these forms (completed and signed by a parent) to the GPA library. Do not return forms to the classroom teachers.

  • Reading logs are available from the library. Grade 1 and 2 students can get their forms from their teachers. No late forms will be accepted.

  • The award ticket is valid for select dates during the 2011 summer season.

  • Lost, stolen, or damaged tickets cannot be replaced.

If you have any questions, please call the library during school hours, or e-mail our librarian, Pam Saunders.
