Dr. Marc Evans
Head of School
Dean of Academics

ext. 107

Dr. Evans joined our Grace Prep team in August of 2012. Dr. Evans’ diverse professional background uniquely qualifies him to be the one charged with the responsibility of leading Grace Prep in continued excellence as the premiere University Model School.

Dr. Evans holds a doctorate in Higher Education Administration from the University of North Texas, an MS in education from Slippery Rock University, and a BA in administrative studies from the University of California at Riverside. As we continue to advance academically and strive for excellence in all areas of instruction, changes that are beneficial to both instructional delivery and technology will continue to be of utmost importance. As our teachers embrace professional growth and development, our Grace Prep families are assured that their children are receiving the best Christ-centered education they can receive.

Dr. Evans firmly believes that excellence begins in the home, continues through a stable church home, and is confirmed within the walls of our Academy. As such, he is committed to advancing our reach within the community so that all of us who know and love Grace Prep can share that experience with other families that the Lord calls to our hallways. Additionally, he will continue to stress strong business management and integrity in all of our processes as such concentrations are vital to the growth and success of our school.

Dr. Evans is married to Tammy, who will be serving as our girls’ basketball and cross country coach. His oldest son Brad is married to Shelly; they are blessed with a daughter, Nora Grace. His second son Brett is a successful contractor in Oklahoma. His daughter Taylor is a sophomore at TCU, and his son Mason is currently a senior here at GPA.

Over the last 30 years, Dr. Evans has been a dorm director, college admissions counselor, a college assistant and head coach, a college department chairman, college professor, college advisor, pre-school owner, business sales associate, athletics compliance director, and Head of School.

"I truly believe that all my experiences have uniquely prepared me to lead Grace Prep to even greater heights. But positive growth in a UMS school is most dependent on strong parental involvement in conjunction with loving personnel and teachers who are bright, engaged, and above all, committed to the Lord in all they say and do when it comes to our kids. Individually we contribute, but together we transform."

Phil Smith
Dean of Student and Family Ministries

ext. 111

Phil joined Grace Prep in 2013, and his passion is to see the students and families of Grace Prep grow deeper in their faith and love for Christ. Phil graduated from Texas Tech in 1985 with a BA in speech communication and then went on to pursue a master's degree in theology, graduating from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1991. Phil combines over twenty years of secular work experience with eighteen years of pastoral ministry, equipping him well for his new role as the Dean of Student and Family Ministries. Since 2010, he has been pastoring Living Hope Church in southeast Arlington, and he will continue to do so while serving with Grace Prep. Phil also served with a short-term missions organization (Global Missions Fellowship which is now known as E3 Ministries). He has been on 22 missions trips (most of which he has led) to places such as Peru, Uganda, Panama, Ecuador, Mexico, and New Orleans. As we plan to expand our missions opportunities for our students, Phil will be of great value.

Phil has been married to Debbie for 29 years and they have three children. Nathan (21) lives in Omaha, Nebraska, Hannah (19) is a freshman at Tarrant County Community College, and Katy (15) is a Grace Prep junior. Family is important to Phil, and as he has discipled his own children, he desires to exemplify Psalm 78:72 in the way he shepherds the families of Grace.

"Being a part of the Grace Prep team opens a door of ministry with students, families, and faculty alike. God is doing an eternal work among us, and I am thankful to be a part of it."
